C.C. Myers, Inc. Awarded Downtown Sacramento I-5 Project

This morning Rancho Cordova based contractor C.C. Myers, Inc. was awarded the Caltrans contract to repair and rebuild a critical section of I-5 through downtown Sacramento. This project involves digging out portions of the existing freeway roadbed and installing new drainage, wells, and concrete roadway. To complete the work portions of the freeway and some downtown on and off ramps will be closed for periods of time.

Caltrans engineers estimated this project would cost $45M and take 305 working days to complete. C.C. Myers, Inc.'s winning bid came in just under $27M with a 114 day timetable.

"This is an ideal project for us, and I feel great about working in partnership with Caltrans again. I really wanted this job for the people of Sacramento. This is the biggest project we've done in Sacramento, and it's great to be able to do good work where we live."

This contract provides a bonus of $3.1M for meeting time and completion goals ahead of schedule. Likewise, there are penalties for work not completed within the Caltrans timetable.

C.C. Myers, Inc., in partnership with Caltrans, repaired the MacArthur Maze in May of 2007 in just 17 days, opening the damaged section of freeway 32 days ahead of schedule. Over Labor Day weekend 2007, C.C. Myers, Inc. completed the first-of-its-kind roll-in of a replacement section of the Bay Bridge, re-opening the bridge to commuters 11 hours ahead of schedule.
