| The I-5 "Boat Section" Project in Sacramento commenced on May 30, 2008 to rehabilitate the drainage and roadway systems in place. This vital north-south link through downtown Sacramento serves more than 190,000 vehicles a day. This project required traffic restrictions on I-5 through Sacramento. | |
C.C. Myers, Inc. winning bid dropped the schedule from 305 advertised days to 114 days. Subsequently, C.C. Myers, Inc. devised an aggressive plan to reduce the impact of traffic lane restriction. Working in partnership with Caltrans, the California Trucking Association, the City of Sacramento, and the City of West Sacramento, the impact to traffic was reduced from the 114-day period to less than six weeks.

With exceptional project management and the determination of all stakeholders involved, the project finished on time in spite of two unique obstacles: a differing site condition where the pavement concrete was significantly thicker than the original 40-year plans showed and an extreme heat wave in July with temperatures well into the 100 degree mark, even into the evening, limiting time the polyester concrete could be placed.
