Day 0: Sunday, April 29, 2007, 3:42 a.m.: A section of I-580 at the MacArthur Maze in Alameda County collapses onto the roadway below as the result of a tanker truck fire.

Day 8: Monday, May 7, 2007: C.C. Myers, Inc.'s successful bid leads to the contract being awarded and signed by Will Kempton, Director of Caltrans, and C.C. Myers, CEO of C.C. Myers, Inc. in a ceremony at Caltrans headquarters at around 3:30 p.m. C.C. Myers, Inc. crews were on the jobsite within an hour of that signing.

Day 16: Tuesday, May 15, 2007: Reeve Trucking of Stockton, CA arrived on the jobsite with the 55 ½ -foot bent cap. The bent cap, fabricated by Con-Fab of Lathrop, CA and weighing 243,750 pounds, was placaaed, with the help and participation of subcontractors and Caltrans, across the two columns using a crane on either end to lift it from the flatbed and was locked onto the steel-jacketed rehabbed columns with fastening bolts. The operation, which occurred during a closure of I-880, was completed by 11:00 p.m.

Day 17: Wednesday, May 16, 2007: Twelve steel girders, to be placed perpendicularly across the bent cap, started arriving from the fabricator in Arizona. The girders will be used to hold up the concrete road deck. The first four girders are scheduled to be set overnight on May 16 and into the early morning of May 17.

Day 21: Sunday, May 20, 2007: The concrete deck was poured.

Day 25: Thursday, May 24, 2007, 8:45p.m.: Freeway opened to traffic.

Day 26: Friday, May 25, 2007, morning: Ceremonial re-opening to the citizens of California of the MacArthur Maze/580 in time for the morning commute and the Memorial Day weekend.
